Do You Have a Dream?

Do you have a dream?

Martin Luther King said "I have a dream." His dream was ongoing, not static or in the past. It was not a wish, for wishes have no substance and are not attainable. A dream has substance such as buying a home, new career. Life leaders have a dream.

With a dream, you must want to make it happen, not just wish it would happen. Life leaders act upon their dream. They don't wait until all the right pieces are in place before they act. There will never be a time when everything is just right. Life leaders act and for some reason the pieces begin to fall into place. In pursuing a dream, you may have fear or are very comfortable and don't want to leave your comfort zone. What helps you overcome these is having your dream dominant in your mind. Write a description of your dream, place a picture of your dream in a prominent place, tell someone about it.

By keeping your dream in the dominant, forefront of your mind, it will motivate you to action. You will start putting the pieces in place. You just might find that you did not really need all that you thought you did in achieving your dream.

Another obstacle to achieving the dream is that many want it all at once. Real dreams don't come all at once but have to obtained over time. The instant gratification generation will have trouble pursuing dreams without becoming quickly discouraged.

Finally, the last, but very important part, of pursuing a dream is that we are changed in the process of pursuing the dream. We grow, become bigger, stronger, more confident, others focused, etc.

To start dreaming write down 10 things that you would do if you knew could not fail.

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD.."

God was speaking to the Israelites who were in captivity in Babylon. Their dream was to return to the Israel, the promise land. God does care about our dreams.
